  • CARE Program

    The CARE Program is a partnership between your local utility providers, energy efficiency nonprofit organizations, and Energy Outreach Colorado. Through this program they may be able to install FREE energy efficiency upgrades to reduce your home energy bills.

    The process starts with a home energy audit to determine what work your home may need, followed by the work being completed by their trusted contractors. The scope of work may include the following: insulation, air sealing, mechanical systems replacement/tune-up, and more.

    Participants in the following programs are automatically qualified: Aid to the Blind (AB), Aid to the Needy Disabled (AND), LEAP, Old Age Pension (OAP), Section 8 Housing, SNAP, TANF and WIC.

  • Weatherization Assistance.

    Energy Resource Center (ERC) offers free weatherization assistance to income qualifying households aimed at lowering energy and resource use and costs

    Free weatherization services may include:

    • Blowing insulation in walls and attic

    • Crawlspace insulation

    • Air sealing and weather stripping

    • Water saving measures

    • Carbon monoxide and smoke detector installation

    • New led light bulbs

    • Installing a new furnace or repairing an existing one

    • Replacing water heaters and refrigerators

    • Solar panels and more at no cost to the resident

  • Housing Rehabilitation.

    The City of Boulder has contracted with the City of Longmont to administer its Housing Rehabilitation Program. The City of Longmont will work with homeowners through the application intake process, contracting with an eligible contractor, and the completion of the repair work.

    This program includes repairs to mobile homes to eliminate health and safety issues, correct code violations, make homes more energy-efficient and improve accessibility for homeowners at or below 50% of the Area Median Income (AMI).

  • Home Safety Visits: Smoke Alarm Program.

    Have a member from Boulder Fire-Rescue Community Risk Reduction come and check your smoke and CO alarms. They can help install new smoke/CO alarms or help change the batteries in existing alarms. For homeowners that can’t afford smoke/CO alarms, they can provide them free of charge. They also offer a risk assessment to help reduce slips, falls, and hazards in your home.

    Availability: 7 days a week. May not be able to accommodate all event request due to firefighter training and other scheduling conflicts.

  • Older Adults: Fall Prevention Program & Risk Assessment.

    Older Adults: Fall Prevention Program & Risk Assessment.

    The Boulder Fire-Rescue Community Risk Reduction team provides programs for older adults about preventing falls, what to do in a fire or other emergency, as well as a full risk assessment for the home. The team is open to conducting these programs for residential homes, small groups, or independent living facilities.

    Ages: Intended for seniors 60 and older. However, depending on the circumstance other ages can be included.

    Availability: 8am-5pm, Monday through Friday

  • Cultivate

    Cultivate provides volunteer-powered services for seniors through a number of programs:

    • Carry-out Caravan: assistance with ordering, purchasing and delivering groceries fromKing Soopers. (Clients are responsible for the cost of their own groceries).

    • Fix-it: volunteers provide simple home rears, wheelchair/walker repairs, and grab bar installations. (Clients must provide their own materials).

    • Yard Busters: volunteers provide once annual simple yard cleanup.

    • Snow Busters: volunteers provide snow shoveling

    • VetsGo: volunteers prvide transportation to and from medically-related appointments.

    • Phone Buddies: matches volunters wih seniors for regularly scheduled social calls, wellness checks or both.
